Kelly Clarkson and Jordan Meredith Duets (2012) Top 7 Performance of Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock N Roll”

Jordan Meredith is one of Kelly Clarkson’s partners on the first season of the Duets TV singing contest. So far, she has had mixed results, mostly due to her nervousness and lack of confidence. However, she has made it to the Top 7.

The judges seemed to think she improved last week, placing her 3rd out of the 8 contestant in the scoring. Before that, though, Jordan was 7th the first week and moved up to 5th the second week. On the plus side, she has trended upward each week of the competition.

Jordan’s strength appears to be her rock side. She has not shown a lot of vocal technique or style that would lend itself to softer songs. But she does possess a good amount of power that can be used for rock or pop rock. Personally, though, I had her in the bottom 2 last week. She needs to make a wholesale transformation and blossom in front of our eyes to have any chance of winning Duets.

Kelly and Jordan are singing Joan Jett’s “I Love Rock N Roll.”

Man, these Duets singers were poorly chosen. They mostly all suck. You can barely hear Jordan. She has almost zero confidence, and her vocal and breath control were generally bad throughout. And the other problem is Kelly completely overpowered her, so you could hardly even hear Jordan in the last part of the song.

I have her in the bottom with Olivia in the first 5 contestants. But the judges had her 3rd in the first 5 (ahead of Jason and Olivia). So Jordan is safe this week and will make the Top 6.
