Jason Farol has scraped and clawed to get to the Top 6 of the first season of Duets. He was lucky that the scores for the first two weeks didn’t count because he was dead last on average for those weeks.
In the third week, Jason improved to 7th out of 8. He survived by winning the sing-off against Alexis Foster.
Finally, Farol got out of the bottom 2 when he finished 5th out of 7 last week. Meleana and Olivia went into the sing-off, and Meleana was eliminated.
This could be the make-or-break week for Jason. Has he finally gotten rid of enough nerves to avoid the bottom 2 for a 2nd week? Nervousness and inexperience have been a problem for both Jason and Jordan, who is Kelly Clarkson’s other duet partner.
But strictly looking at the performances, I believe Jason has no chance of winning. He is way behind J Rome and John Glosson in terms of talent. And Bridget and Jordan are also ahead of him in terms of voting. He and Olivia are the bottom 2 when looking at the average scores.
It would not be surprising to see Jason and Olivia in the sing-off this week. But either could have a good week and avoid the bottom 2.
Next week, the public starts to vote. This is not particularly good news for Jason. He doesn’t have star quality or uniqueness, so there isn’t much for the public to be voting for when it comes to Farol.
Kelly and Jason are performing “Come What May,” which is from the movie Moulin Rouge. This seems like an odd choice. As far as I know, it was not even a hit song.
This is kind of a pretty performance by Jason. It’s better than last week, where “Satisfaction” didn’t fit his voice at all. Jason did better than both Jordan and Olivia this week. We’ll see if the judges agree, but he should be safe this week. Farol was the last to go this week.
Really stupid decision there by the judges. They put him in last place. They really want to get rid of one of Kelly’s singers and save Olivia so Robin has at least one contestant. Ridiculous.
