Jason Farol has probably been the most improved contestant on Duets. At the beginning, virtually no one would have predicted him to make the Top 3. And although Bridget has had better overall performances in my opinion, she has never helped herself in the personality department. So once Jason made the Top 4, it was not that surprising that he made it one more week.
Now, Jason has probably reached the point where he will have a very tough time advancing. He is going to have to get more votes than either J Rome or John Glosson. And since those two have had the best performances and gotten the most judge approval overall, this is going to be a hard nut for Farol to crack.
I predict that Jason will finish in 3rd place on this first season of Duets. With only 3 singers left, performance order is not that important. And voters generally decide who they want pretty early in the competition. So it would be an usual set of circumstances that would allow Jason and his celebrity partner Kelly Clarkson to make the top 2 and finale on the first season of Duets.
Kelly and Jason sang “Me And Mrs. Jones.” This song saved him one week in the bottom 2 when the show was still doing sing-offs.
This is a pretty good performance. However, I think a lot of people will find it kind of boring. Kelly did a little something with it, but Jason never got out of 3rd gear. He had some power, but not great power. He had some decent soaring notes, but they weren’t great. It was just a little better than average.
