John Glosson is my favorite contestant on the first season of Duets. His celebrity singing partner is Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles.
The judges’ scoring has not exactly reflected my opinion. But John has been in the top half of the voting for all three weeks of the Top 8. He was 4th the first two weeks and 2nd last week. J Rome has been the judges’ favorite, placing or tying for first all three weeks.
On the preview for the Top 7, Duets showed a clip of Jennifer and John singing Tom Cochrane’s “Life Is a Highway.” This looked like it might be another excellent Glosson performance. I didn’t know he would sing a pop-rock kind of song like that. If the full song is like the preview, look for John to be safe again and avoid the Top 7 sing-off.
John is more of a ballad singer, so he is getting out of his comfort zone. But he says he has more and wants to show it.
John and Jennifer were last to go. I believe he did a great job and was at least in the top 3 for tonight. He lost power in a couple of spots, but it was a better rock performance than the others who tried rock in the Top 7.
The judges put John 3rd on the night (behind J Rome and Bridget).
