John Glosson immediately became my favorite contestant on Duets the first week. Overall, the show has turned out to be quite a disappointment. However, J Rome and John, who happen to have the same celebrity partner in Jennifer Nettles, have managed to emerge as leaders of the pack. Look for both of them to survive this Top 3 and move on to the head-to-head finals.
I imagine Glosson and J Rome will be the final 2. Strange things happen, but Bridget got even less votes than Jason last week. And Jason has improved but is still well behind the two favorites.
My main concern with John was whether he would survive the first week of public voting. But since he was not in the bottom 2, it appears that he has enough fan support to get to the finale. On the other hand, the producers have done everything but beg the voters to support J Rome. So if John does make the finale, he will need some fantastic performances to upset J Rome.
Glosson is not likely to be a pop star, but he is a church singer and would likely do well going the gospel route. This is what I am expecting from him whether he wins Duets or not.
Jennifer and John are singing “The Prayer.” This is rather challenging. I think John’s voice sounds great as usual, but it’s not exactly Andrea Bocelli, either. Still, I think he did the best out of the 3 duets just because he has the best vocal tone and displayed the most emotion. But everyone also has to do a solo after these duets.
