The following is a FOX News video that involves the mysterious death of 6-year-old Max Shacknai. It was uploaded to FOX’s website on July 17, 2012.
Max Shacknai died when he was at his father’s Coronado Island mansion. Coronado Island is off the coast of San Diego, California.
It has been about a year since Max died. During that time, the mother has basically remained silent. In this update to the Coronado mansion mystery death, she vows to complete a full investigation to find out exactly what happened to her son.
The police have said that Max’s death was an accident. He reportedly died falling down a flight of stairs.
Here’s where it gets interesting. Max’s mom and dad were divorced, and the dad’s girlfriend was watching Max at the time of his death. Two days later, the girlfriend killed herself by hanging.
Dina Shacknai is the mother. She says the police are wrong and that Max did not die the way the police are saying he did. Also, she has a lawyer who says they have consulted with experts who say the police are wrong.
It gets more confusing here. According to Cyril Wecht, who is a renowned forensic pathologist, the girlfriend did not commit suicide. He thinks someone killed her and even found blunt-force trauma to the back of the head and a lack of injuries that would have been caused by hanging.
Armchair Theory:
Is it possible the father or someone else killed the boy and then killed the girlfriend, making it look like a suicide based on guilt for having killed the boy? I don’t know, but I imagined this scenario after finding out that Cyril Wecht said the girlfriend did not kill herself. Of course, it is up to the police to investigate and see if there is any evidence to establish this type of scenario. But if the girlfriend was killed, it is hardly a stretch to think that the same person killed the boy.
Note that Cyril Wecht may or may not be right. Pathologists do disagree with each other all the time.
