Date: Saturday, October 19, 2013

Time: Around 8:40 at night

City / County / State: Hammond, Indiana

Address: Interstate 80-94

Victims Killed:

1. Joshua Walberg was 21 years old.

Victims Injured:

Shawnna Popenhagen is also 21. She was seriously injured.

Cause:

No conclusions have been drawn yet. But police say an investigation preliminarily suggests that Walberg grabbed the steering wheel during an argument. This is not an allegation on my part. I am just repeating what police either discovered or were told. It was not clear whether Popenhagen told them this or if they have this information through some other means. At any rate, Popenhagen lost control and ended up perpendicular to traffic. The car was then struck in the side by the Saint Francis bus.

Criminal Charges?

There are no charges at this time.
