The crash took place on Friday, August 2, 2013.

1. Jeffery Mitchell Toole was 49 years old. He lived in Thompsonville, Michigan.

2. Jeffery’s younger brother, Joel Willard Toole, was 43 years old and also from Thompsonville.

Kuldeep Singh Khangura is the truck driver who was arrested in this case. Khangura is originally from India, and he is 28 years old. He is now from Markham, Ontario, Canada. He was legally driving in the U.S.

Police say that the trailer part of Khangura’s tractor-trailer drifted into the opposite lane of traffic. That resulted in a collision with the Toole brothers’ pickup.

Criminal Charges:

Kuldeep Singh Khangura has been arrested for a moving violation causing death. This is actually a fairly minor misdemeanor, with a maximum sentence of one year in jail for each of the two counts. Khangura has not yet been formally charged by the prosecutor. But that is expected to happen soon.

Police arrested this truck driver because they said he should have been more careful under the wet road conditions and the curve around where the accident took place.
