Date: Saturday, October 26, 2013

Time: About 11:30 in the morning

City / County / State: Franklin, Virginia

Address: Route 258, south of Sycamore Church Road

Victims Killed:

1. Tonashea Sledge was 12 years old. Her city of residence was not mentioned yet in the reporting.

Victims Injured:

Besides father Tony Sledge (45), who was the driver, my understanding of the WAVY article is that there was one adult and four other children in the vehicle. That would mean 6 were injured. No specific details were provided except that they were all sent to the hospital.

Including Tonashea, the youngest child was 5, and the oldest was 12.

Cause:

Police believe that Sledge lost control when making an unsafe move to change lanes. The car overturned.

Information on seat-belt usage was not available yet.

Criminal Charges?

There are no charges at this time. However, police say they suspect speed and alcohol. It will take some time to process the evidence and determine whether Sledge was driving drunk.
