A man was killed in a bicycle crash. But it appears that a heart attack was what actually caused the victim to die.

1. Steve Maranzana was an assistant manager of health and safety at UC Berkeley (Office Of Environment, Health, And Safety). He was 39 years old and lived in El Cerrito, California.

Victims Injured:

none

Cause:

This incident is a little strange. Witnesses reported seeing Maranzana swerve on his bicycle to miss a skateboarder. He missed that person and ran into a fence. But at the same time, Maranzana apparently suffered some sort of cardiac arrest and died. However, according to information in the Patch article, the victim, while still young, had already been diagnosed with some kind of heart condition.
