The following CNN sports news video contains an interview with Olympic bronze medalist Kriss Akabusi. He is being asked about why he thinks Usain Bolt is so special. The video was uploaded to the CNN website on August 6, 2012.
Background: Usain Bolt just won the London 2012 Summer Olympics men’s 100 meter run, setting an Olympic record of 9.63 seconds. This is his second straight Olympic win and gold medal. He has the potential of winning two more gold medals in London: one in the 200 meter run, and the other in the 4 X 100 meter relay.
I find this interview a bit hard to follow. Akabusi is just rambling along, spitting facts out like a firecracker. He more or less said it would be nice to see Bolt try the 400 meter run, and it is possible that he could come back and compete for a third Olympic gold medal in a row at the Rio 2016 Olympics. He also said that Usain Bolt can also redeem himself in the world championships, which he ended up losing in 2011.
Bolt reportedly reached a speed of 31 miles per hour in the 100 meter sprint for gold.
They then talked about pre-race routines, noting that Bolt likes to play up to the cameras with bolt-like hand symbols and the like. Well, lots of sprinters do this nowadays. Not everyone has to have a serious look on their face to get psyched up for a race. He then goes on and on about how sprinters are able to filter out all distractions and focus only on the race.
