Webb Simpson came from behind on the final day to win the 2012 U.S. Open in golf. He won on June 17, 2012. The CNN sports news video below has an interview with Simpson after his big victory.
Simpson said he was very excited to win. He said it was a physically tough week because the course was hard to walk (San Francisco’s The Olympic Club). Webb also said that he could not have imagined being a U.S. Open champion at this early stage of his career.
Webb Simpson was 1 over par for the entire four rounds. But he was 2 under par on the final day, which allowed him to pass Round 3 co-leaders Jim Furyk and Graeme McDowell. Furyk was +4 in the 4th round, and McDowell was +3. McDowell held on to tie for 2nd with Michael Thompson. Furyk fell to a tie for 4th place.
