The following CNN weather news video is an August 16, 2012 update to the Washington wildfires. Dan Simon is speaking to two evacuees. This segment originally aired on The Situation Room.
Elaine Wise and Ed Taasevigen had to leave their homes as the blaze approached. Unfortunately, both of them lost their homes.
In the video below, you can see them returning to assess the damage. Elaine Wise owned a farm in Ellensburg, Washington. She lives alone and used the farm to pay her monthly bills. Elaine also lost most of her farm animals, including dozens of dogs and pigs. Wise had no insurance, either.
This Washington wildfire has destroyed around 60 homes so far. Ed Taasevigen and his wife are two other victims. He described the fire as being 15 to 20 feet high and like a tidal wave. When Taasevigen returned home, his residence was destroyed by the fire.
