This is also a survival story. The Wilson family’s farm became a target of one of the Oklahoma wildfires (Luther). The flames took over their farm. The family just happened to have a pond on the farm. This is how they escaped the flames that engulfed their property.
John Wilson and his family live in a 5-acre farm. Justin Wilson said the wildfire came so fast that there was no time to do a proper evacuation. When they went to jump in their vehicles, the tires were already singed, and other damage made the cars impossible to use.
Seeing no other option, they took off for the pond, which was about a quarter of a mile away. The whole family and a box turtle survived the ordeal.
Most of their home and property was destroyed in the fire.
