The following CNN news video is about a 9-year-old boy and his lemonade stand (which is apparently actually a popcorn stand). It was uploaded to the CNN website on August 8, 2012.
The boy’s name is Joshua Smith. He gives a little interview in the video below. Joshua has made more than $3000 to help the financially distressed city of Detroit, Michigan.
Joshua received the Spirit of Detroit Award.
Since I’m so good at raining on parades, who really thinks this boy is the driving force behind this idea? He even said it was not his idea right in this video. And when asked about contacting the City of Detroit to donate the money, all he could say was “I think it was over the phone.” The kid certainly can’t answer questions about this popcorn or lemonade stand or whatever it is. Well, at least he is participating with a good attitude, which is a lot more than many kids would do in the same situation.
