CNN News Video – 6-Year-Old Gainesville, Florida Girl Ashlyn Coleman Falls Down Sinkhole While Riding Bike

When a sinkhole forms in the earth, it essentially causes the ground to cave in. This phenomenon tends to happen when there are storms, floods, and other inclimate weather like the U.S. has experienced in the past few weeks. The following CNN news video gives an example of what can happen to kids when a sinkhole forms, especially when they are not careful around these holes in the ground. The video was added to CNN’s website on July 5, 2012.

Ashlyn Coleman is a 6-year-old girl from Gainesville, Florida. She was riding a bike around her yard. She then somehow fell into a sinkhole. Ashlyn was able to climb the roots protruding from the sides of the sinkhole to get back to the surface.

Ashlyn says she will continue to ride her bike but pay more attention to what is in front of her next time. She spent the night in the hospital for routine testing and observation.
