CNN Health News Video: Magic Johnson Talking About The First In-Home HIV Test And Living With AIDS (OraSure’s OraQuick Test Kit)

The following CNN health news video is about former NBA basketball star and Dodgers baseball owner Magic Johnson, living his life with AIDS, and the first in-home HIV test kit. The video was added to the CNN website on October 9, 2012.

The FDA has approved the at-home HIV test. It utilizes a simple mouth swab and takes only about 20 to 40 minutes to get a result. The test costs around $40.

The product is OraQuick, and Magic Johnson is a paid endorser. He says that the company, OraSure, still recommends that people go to their own doctor. But some people just prefer to avoid the doctor if possible.

I have not written all of the Magic Johnson comments down here. The interview is about 7 minutes long, and you can watch it in its entirety by playing the video below. His main point is that you need to get tested as early as possible. If you detect that you have HIV early, then you can fight it with medication and a healthy lifestyle.

OraSure is based on Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
