Mickey Shunick was riding her bike this past May when she disappeared. Police have now found remains of a body that they say are likely Mickey Shunick. This CNN crime news video was uploaded to their website on August 8, 2012. It originally aired on the Nancy Grace TV show.
Shunick is a senior at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She left a friend’s house on a bike. While the bicycle was found later under a bridge in Lafayette, Mickey was not found until possibly now.
The Lafayette Police Department believes the badly decomposed body is Shunick. According to that agency, someone told them that the body would be in that cemetery. Sure enough, they found a body when they went out there to check.
Brandon Lavergne is a suspect in the case. There is some speculation that he is the one who led police to the body that is believed to be Mickey’s. That would explain the police’s confidence in saying that they think it is her, as they obviously have not had time to do rigorous scientific testing for identification purposes.
