The following CNN comedy video comes from Team Coco, which publishes clips of the Conan O’Brien TV talk show online. This video contains a skit from Conan’s show called “La Bamba Legal.” It was uploaded to the CNN website on August 8, 2012.
Conan starts the skit by saying he thinks they have a great new TV-show idea. It will be called “La Bamba Legal.” The show then cuts away to a mock courtroom to do the skit.
This whole comedy routine pretty much tanked for me. They basically made fun of the fact that the lawyer in the courtroom could not pronounce Vietnamese names. The guy then couldn’t pronounce Uzbekistan names. Oh, Conan. This doesn’t even approach funny. I guess the show is trying to make fun of people’s foreign-language names or make fun of the fact that Americans can’t pronounce them. Either way, this “La Bamba Legal” skit had some awfully poor writing. And it didn’t even make sense that the lawyer was laughing when trying to pronounce the Vietnamese names.
I’ve never seen someone so offended because a trumpet player couldn’t read a cue card. Thanks for wasting a minute of my life.
