KWQC has reported on a tragic freak accident that took the life of a guy cutting grass next to the highway. This accidental death occurred on Saturday, September 22, 2012. The location of the incident was Highway 61, in the area of Blue Grass, Iowa. Blue Grass is in Muscatine County.
The victim is Donald Fister. He was 69 years old.
Cause:
It is not clear exactly how this happened. However, Fister was found under the lawn tractor, which had somehow tipped over. He was cutting grass in a ditch, so perhaps the angle was so steep that the lawn tractor tipped over. Many of these lawn tractors have equipment that is designed to prevent tip-over accidents. It was not stated in the KWQC report whether this particular machine had such safety devices installed. Donald was found dead by a sheriff’s deputy after someone reported the accident.
