The 7th season of America’s Got Talent aired its 2nd group of 12 acts for the Top 48 on July 10, 2012. This article will provide the results for this group as the show airs on July 11th.
I am also including some predictions here of which acts will make it to the Top 24. Only the Top 4 make it, with 3 advancing automatically on the public vote and the judges picking one more act from the 2 acts that were 4th and 5th in the public voting.
I managed to predict all 4 last week, but this week is a little more difficult. For starters, my prediction is that Tim Hockenberry and Turf will make it on the public vote. They came in as the favorites in this group, and that should be enough to get them through.
But I would not be super shocked if Turf did not get the votes. He really put on more of an exhibition than a show, and I did not really enjoy his performance that much. Nonetheless, when you come in pimped as much as he has been (which is still really strange if you ask me), then that’s usually enough to get past the first round.
The third act I predict to make it on the public vote is Donovan and Rebecca. This was my favorite act of the night and one of the crowd and judge favorites, as well. Parts of it were mesmerizing and graceful, and there was a hint of danger, as well.
The fourth act to make it will probably be Tom Cotter. The concept of the material (making fun of idioms) was cheesy. But it was still funny, and he was treated as one of the judges’ favorites last night. Probably more than any other show, America’s Got Talent judges have quite a bit of influence over the voters. Their glowing praise (somewhat overrated) should put Tom into the next round.
So my predictions to move on include Tim Hockenberry, Turf, Donovan and Rebecca, and Tom Cotter.
Who else might make it?
I would put the Lisa Clark Dancers in over Turf. I just don’t know why they put LCD through and then refuse to acknowledge their uniqueness and talent. And Howie’s comments were utterly absurd. There is no way his daughters can dance on that level.
For the life of me, I don’t know why the judges are pimping the boring and marginally talented Ben Blaque. But he went next to last and was extremely overpraised by the judges. That gives him a chance of getting one of the four spots to advance.
There is little hope left now for Aurora Light Painters. The story they tried to tell was weird and even kind of creepy. It just came across as being all technology with little to no entertainment value.
Results:
I will fill in this space when AGT announces the results for this group on Wednesday, July 11, 2012.
Tim Hockenberry and Turf come out first. They both made it in the Top 3 on the public vote.
The All Ways, Big Barry, Aurora Light Painters, and Lisa Clark Dancers are in the next results group. None of them made it to the next round.
Tom Cotter, LionDanceMe, and Hawley Magic are up next. Tom Cotter is in the top 3 in this group and advances.
Top 3: Tim Hockenberry, Turf, and Tom Cotter
The judges will pick one more between 4th and 5th place.
The act that did not finish 4th or 5th was Ben Blaque.
The judges pick between Donovan and Rebecca and Danielle Stallings.
Howard and Howie chose Donovan and Rebecca, so they advance to the semifinals.
I think that LCD were good, but I think I have to disagree with you on them possibly making it. I would put as the top three: Tim Hockenburg, Donavan and Rebecca, and Danielle Stallings. The 4th and 5th place I would give to Turf (which I agree with you 100% about him and his performance) and Tom Cotter with the decision going for Tom Cotter.
My placing was a bit off, but I had all the top five picked perfectly.
