America’s Got Talent 7 Las Vegas Round – Olate Dogs

I mentioned Olate Dogs as my favorite initial act in the city auditions when making America’s Got Talent 7 predictions. However, even I am concerned that this act will run out of wow tricks. The first audition was packed with exciting, unique tricks. But non-singing acts need to be able to get through several rounds without going stale to have any chance of winning AGT.

The main concern with a dog act like this is that all the good tricks will be used up in the first one to three performances. Olate Dogs will surely lose steam if it tries to do the same tricks over and over.

Now, it will be even more difficult to make predictions about Olate’s chances for success after what has happened to this father-and-son dog-tricks act in Las Vegas.

The show teased Olate Dogs getting cut immediately without even a chance to audition in Vegas. The groups were told to check boards to see if they were a favorite or a standby. If an act’s name was not on the list at all, then they were supposed to be instantly eliminated.

After the break, Olate Dogs and a few other acts were called out to the stage. Ivy Rose, Charlie C, and Bandbaz Brothers were told to step forward. That left Olate, the Human Cannonball guy, and another act in the back row. The front row was cut, and Olate Dogs and the rest of the back row were automatically sent to the Top 48.

So we will not see this dog act again until the live rounds of the Top 48. This allows them to stay fresh for at least the first round. Olate is a clear favorite at this point, and the show is trying to help them by making them do one less performance instead of putting them on stage in Vegas to potentially use up even more tricks.
