Having recovered from kidney surgery, Philip Phillips is now in shape for the American Idol 11 concert tour. And he will also be performing at the July 10, 2012 MLB All Star Game (that’s baseball for those of you who are not sports fans).
According to AP, Philip will be performing “Home,” which is his coronation single for his Season 11 championship. While Phillips initially made some rather snide remarks about the song (saying he doesn’t write that kind of stuff), he has apparently quickly learned that he has contractual obligations and has to sing “Home” as many times as they tell him to perform it.
“Home” hit No. 1 on iTunes within hours of Philip’s win. It stayed there for a while and was the No. 2 single for that week. However, the song did not have a great lasting effect beyond the initial rush to buy it. As I am checking today, it is at #68 on iTunes. It has been about 6 weeks since Philip won American Idol 11.
Check out Philip’s “Home” before the actual game starts. That means you will want to tune it at the very beginning of the broadcast. According to TV Guide, the starting time is 7:30 p.m. Eastern. The 2012 MLB All Star game airs on FOX.
