ABC News Video: June 17, 2012 Update on Colorado Wildfires (Caused By Lightning)

Authorities are saying that the wildfires in Colorado could potentially continue for months. High winds are currently coming in, which makes it even harder to fight the fires. In all, there are wildfires burning in eight Western states.

Here are the current statistics on the Colorado fires:

1. 8 days and counting;
2. 55,000 acres destroyed; and
3. 181 houses burned down.

Colorado fire authorities are saying the fire started when lightning struck a tree. Governor John Hickenlooper also appears in this ABC video.

This is the 3rd biggest fire in Colorado history.
