The following ABC News crime video deals with an attempt to break into a juvenile detention facility, allegedly to free a teen by the name of Max Wade. The facility was the Marin County Juvenile Hall, and it is located in San Rafael, California. The video was uploaded to the CNN website on August 10, 2012.
Max Wade is alleged to have committed many crimes. One is grand theft auto, for allegedly stealing a Lamborghini owned by celebrity and TV chef Guy Fieri.
The person breaking in used bolt cutters to try to get into a chain-link fence. A sledgehammer was also recovered. It was apparently used to try to knock a hole in the wall attached to the cell that was holding Max Wade.
According to juvenile-hall authorities, the building was made to withstand a lot more than a sledgehammer. The attempt was unsuccessful.
In a funny twist, Wade just turned 18 and is being shipped out to an adult detention facility. This was his last chance to break out of juvie, but it didn’t work. The local sheriff’s office came out to search for a suspect. But no one was found.
