2012 London Olympics Results: U.S. Men’s Archery Team Upsets South Korea In Semifinals; Takes Silver Against Italy

At the 2012 London Summer Olympics, the U.S. men’s archery team scored a big upset over South Korea. In fact, the latter had set a new team world record in the preliminary round. Also in the preliminary round, legally blind South Korea archer Im Dong Hyun set a new world record. In fact, he already had the world record and won gold medals in the 2004 Athens and 2008 Beijing Games.

But the U.S. team rose to the occasion when South Korea did not have one of its better days. Still, the U.S. had one of the better scores of the tournament with a 224, while South Korea scored a 219 in the semifinals.

The U.S. men’s archery team slipped a notch in the gold medal match, falling to Italy with a score of 219 to 218. They lost the gold by one point and took silver. Meanwhile, Italy captured the gold medal. South Korea came back strong and won the bronze medal against Mexico, 224-219.

The women’s archery team final is on Sunday, July 29, 2012.
